Green Coffee Bean

Green Coffee Beans are raw coffee beans that have not been roasted. Rich in antioxidants and the phenol chlorogenic acid, green coffee beans are primarily used for weight management and lowering blood pressure, and have also been shown to reduce serum uric acid levels.

In a Health Professionals Follow-up Study (HPFS) analysis, as the number of cups of coffee consumed per day increased, the rate of incident gout decreased. This was attributed to the competitive inhibition of caffeine on xanthine oxidase, which helps reduce uric acid levels (1).

In the Nurses’ Health Study, 89,433 female nurses were observed over 26 years to examine the effect of coffee on gout. Women who drank nearly 1 liter or more of coffee per day had less than half the risk of developing gout (2).
